The top U.S. air force officer here yesterday flew Korea`s newest T-50 supersonic trainer jet to show off the allies` fastened ties, the Korean Air Force said.
Lt. Gen. Stephen Wood, commander of the 7th U.S. Air Force, made the 40-minute flight in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, becoming the first senior U.S. air force officer to fly the aircraft. The T-50 is Korea`s first supersonic military jet built with the nation`s own technology.
The flight was made as part of his visit to the Korean Air Force`s 1st Fighter Wing there.
"The event was designed to test functions of the T-50 aircraft and operational capability of the allied air force," the Air Force said in a statement.
